Interdiction officers need contraband detection tools to help them locate the presence of hidden contraband such as illegal drugs, narcotics, cash, weapons, explosives, and anything that is smuggled into and around the United States. This mission may put them in great risk. They need sophisticated contraband detection tools such as the tools from Campbell/Harris Security Equipment Company (CSECO).
CSECO’s contraband detection tools are ones interdiction officers can trust. The company’s founder, Patrick J. Campbell, first designed and manufactured the Buster K910B Density Meter during the 1980s. Ever since the Buster K910B (aka “Buster”) was created, several government agencies including border patrol agents and local, state, and federal law enforcement groups have trusted the Buster due to its effectiveness, durability, and accuracy.
There are areas in the United States, such as ports and borders, where the Buster and other CSECO tools for contraband development are being used by agents, such as the US Customs and Border Protection officers. Their main job is to determine quickly if there is contraband present. Apart from the US Customs and Border Protection agents, state troopers and police officers may also need contraband detection tools during routine stops. It doesn’t matter where they are, it is important for these officers to know that they can trust their tools which they use to effectively alert them to the presence of hidden contraband.
CSECO knows and understands the need of these officers and agents to have tools that they can completely trust. In a June 2013, PoliceMag.com published an article and included a quote from the company’s president, Anthony “Tony” Harris. He said, “In the early 1980s, there wasn’t much technology to help the Border Patrol to determine if someone was smuggling something inside a vehicle.” Harris explained that the officers used what they had available to them– their hands and rudimentary tools. They used these to try to locate the contraband in question. During that time, detecting hidden contraband was often hit or miss. Often, the contraband went undetected.
This led to the federal government approaching Mr. Campbell to design a new tool to help them accurately locate the presence of contraband. Campbell worked closely with the US Customs and Border Patrol agents and eventually designed the Buster. This tool was different than others available. It used back-scatter technology which enabled it to detect contraband.
The Buster has a low-intensity gamma radiation used to measure an object’s density. It indicates a change in density with an audible or visual alert when there is a difference. Since most items will have a specific density, the alerts allowed the border agents to quickly notice density changes which may indicate the presence of contraband. The Buster enables the officers to detect contraband without externally destroying the material being scanned.
The Buster is also designed with Rad-Aware® radiation technology. This allows first inspectors or first responders to establish safety perimeters in the event of a dirty bomb detonation or other radioactive release.
CSECO also has the new Perfect Vision V20 Videoscope, which replaces the company’s FV Series Fiberscope. Like CSECO’s FV Series Fiberscopes and other fiberscopes on the market today, the Perfect Vision V20 Videoscope has the same features. These features include a long, thin and flexible tungsten armored shaft, a 2-way articulation, a powerful built-in LED lighting, and rechargeable batteries that are guaranteed to last long.
But there’s something more that the Perfect Vision V20 offers that other fiberscopes don’t. The Perfect Vision V20 Videoscope has a large, multi-directional high resolution 5 inch-color LCD display with push-button dimming and digital zoom that produces a resolution which is 10 times higher than that of the other fiberscopes.
This large display enables users to clearly see into the inspected area while maintaining visibility in their surroundings. Plus, because of the large display, users will have less eye fatigue than they have experienced when viewing a smaller screen or a fiberscope.
And on top of those features, the Perfect Vision V20 Videoscope is certified by the Underwriters Laboratory. This amazing videoscope is water-resistant and fuel-proof, and safe to use for inspecting hazardous areas such as in fuel tanks. Truly, the Perfect Vision V20 Videoscope enables users to conduct safer, more productive, and more accurate inspections.
When CBP agents, as well as police and interdiction officers, need contraband detection tools that they can trust, they can turn to CSECO. CSECO’s products will help them lead to possible contraband, verify its presence, keep the contraband from reaching the streets, and keep the officers and agents safe.
