This Density Meter Is Important for Contraband Detection

This Density Meter Is Important for Contraband DetectionCampbell/Harris Security Equipment Company (CSECO) is the home of the original Buster K910B Density Meter, now the Buster K910G. The Buster is hailed as the “gold standard” of contraband detection. And why not? The Buster has been long trusted by several government law enforcement agencies — including the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) — for its reliability, durability, accuracy and safety.

The Buster uses low intensity gamma radiation and a scintillation detector which enables the user to scan through a variety of materials that include wood, metal, reinforced plastic, carton, stone, brick, even dirt and liquids. Officers who use the Buster are able to scan through these materials without tearing them away or damaging the item. When the Buster picks up density for an object which is higher than normal, it means that the contraband is likely present inside it. That’s when the agents damage that object in order to seize the previously hidden contraband.

The sophisticated technology that the Buster uses also allows for a quicker inspection. Using it, agents can scan through an entire vehicle in less than five minutes, and an average-sized room in less than ten minutes.

Can your microwave, millimeter wave, radio wave or ultraviolet contraband detector do all of the things the Buster does? Not by a long shot! They will be able to scan only one or very few materials. Chances are inspecting using any of these rival detectors will not be as fast as when using the Buster.

There’s more about the Buster! It has built-in technology known as RAD-Aware, which recognizes the presence of harmful radioactive leaks. It allows officials to detect explosives such as the dirty bomb and, if necessary, establish safety perimeters to keep civilians out of harm’s way.

There is also an accessory to facilitate the use of the Buster. It is the “Buster-on-a-Stick” which includes a remote display. This enables the user to reach into farther and narrower areas or to areas that would be otherwise inaccessible. The display is closer to the handle grip, which allows the screen to be easily read. This is ideal for inspecting the upper and undersides of a large truck, for instance.

The Buster K910G has an ergonomic design, making it easier to grip. There is also a strap added on it to help maintain a tight grip, therefore minimizing chances of dropping it.

The Buster K910G also features significant improvements from the Buster K910B, which include a 7.5 micro curie Barium 133 source, which is at least 25% or more less than our rivals. It is also now also devoid of the potentially harmful lead-based components from its interior. Now your new Buster K910G Density is not only more durable and reliable, it is also safer than ever before.

Without such high-tech tools such as the Buster K910G, the prospect of locating hidden contraband would be much more difficult and would take a lot more time and manpower.

For over three decades, the Buster density meter has been used and trusted for its durability, reliability, accuracy and safety. It is a testimony to CSECO’s adherence to quality when creating and designing a durable, reliable and effective density meter and other contraband detection tools.
